Here are our top tips for getting ready photos at your wedding. We have so many brides and grooms who are not quite sure what they are supposed to do during the getting ready portion of the wedding day. We love photographing these moments, because you get a ton of opportunity for candid moments.
If you love candid, natural moments, the getting ready is a good time for you to fill the room with people you love. So for our first tip
- Include parents, family, friends, and everyone you would want extra photos of.
We love a full house with getting ready, but this doesn’t mean size always matters — what matters is that you have the people most important to you. We have had couples get ready together, alone. Or big groups with family, friends and the bridal party. Think about your VIP list, and have them with you. If you have a larger group you may want to add a little bit of time to your schedule. - Read letters from each other
Do you love those emotional shots? Well something has to happen to get the tears flowing. Often taking a minute to say how you truly feel in a letter can add a sweet moment to the day. - What about the parents? How about a moment to say thank you, and I love you!
We love including family into our photos, as parents we completely understand how important a wedding day can be for the parents of both the bride and groom. Take a moment during your day, and this can be at the getting ready, to have a private moment. - Let their be light!
Choosing a space with at least some natural is recommended. We have been in basements, and closets, and places you can’t even imagine; we can make any lighting situation work, but you will get more variety with your photos when you have some natural light to work with. - Reveals
