Do you remember Deep thoughts by Jack handy…. yes, yes you do — unless you are too young, and then I recommend you visit the website (but only after looking at all our photos, because sending you to another website, especially one as addictive at the Deep Thoughts site, would only be terrible business on my part.)

These are my Deep Thoughts on 2012.

Yes ok, I am still pondering what to say about 2012, even though everyone has moved on with their lives. I look at other photographers (again, bad business to even mention that there are “other photographers”) sites I feel soooooo jealous because they seem to manage a beautiful best of 2000 blah blah blah posts. Dec-March is always slammed for us and this week is the first time we have caught our breath since the amazing wedding of Lindsay and David in March 2012. A 13 month busy season is mind boggling.

2012 was a big year for us, we booked over a 100 clients in total, we sorted more than quarter of a million photos. I like breaking all my math down to the millions because it seems so impressive. I am a million percent sure of this.

We shot 25 weddings, tons of family sessions, businesses, you name it. Did we take on too much, yes. Will we ever do that again, probably. But, we are trying not to and that’s what counts. This year we will be cutting the amount of family bookings significantly, and we took one weekend off every month in the summer. Turning work down seems to against everything we told ourselves, but just like negative space in a photograph, we are learning that we need it for balance.

5 years ago if we didn’t get a job I would cry a million tears, and poor Nathan had to manage all that. Now we are truly lucky because we are to busy for lady tears and I like it that way. Fingers crossed we keep being busy, at least for Nathan’s sake:)

ha ha!

Here are some of our family pics from 2012.
